RE: WE HAVE NEITHER RE-CONSIDERED NOR SUSPENDED THE NATION-WIDE MASS PROTEST

Our attention has been drawn to the above-captioned statement (dated August 1st 2023) in various social media platforms.

While we would want to re-affirm that the statement is ours, we would want to explain that the statement has nothing to do with the on-going national protests on which we had taken time to explain our position in two press statements issued on July 22nd 2024 and July 23rd 2024.

The statement in circulation was issued in the wake of our contestations with government on sundry matters including government’s observance in breach the MoU it signed with us on June 5, 2023.

We find it necessary to reiterate that on our statements of July 22nd and 23rd 2024, we had advised government to dialogue with the leaders instead of engaging in unhelpful rhetoric, as it was within their constitutional right to protest.

Our position on government meeting with and engaging in sincere dialogue with the leaders of this action remains unchanged. It’s the best way to go.
